It’s time to wrap up warm, source your favourite comfort food and light a roaring fire in one of our coastal retreats in the East Neuk. Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons here, so we’ve begun listing the things we’re looking forward to most now the nights are drawing in. Here are a few ideas for your next stay in one of our beautiful properties.
AUTUMN MARKETS FOR EARLY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING. As the leaves crisp up and start to turn, we’re looking forward to the start of our favourite local markets here in Fife. ‘The Market in The Square’ is a high quality local market set in the beautiful village of Kingsbarns, and features around 20 stalls from businesses all around the local area, Fife and the rest of Scotland. It runs on intermittent Saturdays throughout Autumn from 10am to 3pm, and offers fresh produce, beer, arts, crafts and artisan stalls, and a coffee trailer to keep you cosy as you browse! The Fife Farmers Market is held monthly in St. Andrews, Dalgety Bay and Cupar, offering incredible local products from pastries and sweet treats, to cheeses, local soap and whisky. Is it too early to speak of a spot of early Christmas shopping?!

COSYING UP WITH A NEW HOLIDAY READ. Our properties range from resort lodges to cosy cottages, traditional Scottish townhouses to seaside villas, but they are all immaculate…and can be extremely hard to leave once you’re cosying up by the fire! There are a great number of little bookshops in the East Neuk to pick up a holiday read. We love Toppings in St Andrews, where you’ll find another real fire awaits and complimentary tea and coffee while you browse. They bring an all-year-round Literary Festival to their bookshop in St Andrews. There is a packed calendar which ranges from readings in the bookshop to evenings with literary stars. If you’re a book-lover, don’t forget to check who they have on their events schedule during your stay. There’s also a fantastic range of second hand bookshops in St Andrews, with books going for only a few pounds.
THAT EXTRA HOUR IN BED One of the best things about autumn has to be that extra hour in bed once the clocks go back! With the mornings getting colder and darker, getting out of bed can definitely be a struggle. That extra hour gives you just a bit more time to snuggle up in your duvet and enjoy some more snoozing time in our super comfortable beds.
BONFIRE NIGHT AND FIREWORKS Fireworks and Bonfire night give you the chance to head down to the beach and watch glittering gunpowder shoot through the skies above, surrounded by candy floss, sizzling hot dogs and the burning bonfire. What more could you want on an autumnal evening? Check our availability for Early November and ask us to help book restaurants with the best view of the fireworks to avoid disappointment!
COFFEE GETS COSY Gingerbread lattes, and spiced apple cappuccinos! Coffee and hot chocolate shops love to play around with flavours around this time of year, so treat yourself to a delicious artisan hot drink in places up and down the coast. Here are three of our top picks from Crail to Pittenweem to St Andrews.
