Easter break getaway trips are a perfect way to enjoy the long weekend. If you’re looking for great ideas, why not consider a weekend trip on the East Coast of Fife? The stunning views of Fife Coast and its picturesque coastline make it one of Scotland’s most popular holiday destinations.

An expensive family vacation can be made affordable with weekend getaways or even a weekend trip. Vacation destinations such as Elie in Fife are popular for families looking to enjoy a spring break.

For those looking for an Easter weekend adventure, there are plenty of ideas and destinations to explore. A spring family outing to a friend’s evening entertainment will surely make for a memorable Easter weekend.

As the school term ends, get ready to engage the children in fun activities on Easter Sunday.

Whether you’re home or away this year, we’d recommend organising (or attending) at least one Easter egg hunt. All you need to do is plan your route, write your clues, and hide the treats.

Add fun and excitement, and create your holiday weekend traditions. Bake an Easter cake or have an egg decorating contest. The possibilities are endless when planning your perfect Easter holiday getaway!

Organise an egg hunt in your holiday rental property.

We recommend heading to the Pittenweem Chocolate Company to buy your treats.

They’re an independent chocolate shop that sells chocolates from hand-selected plantations. Think stem ginger dark chocolate, sun-dried figs covered in chocolate, milk chocolate pralines, gin liqueurs and more. Simply delicious. For children’s treats, we love Cadbury’s Mini Eggs and then a Lindt Chocolate Bunny as the final prize!

Look into self-catering properties or luxury lodges near St Andrews if you’re after something more luxurious. This is a superb alternative offering great value for money.

Holiday parks are a great option offering low-cost accommodation and activities – perfect for a family getaway!

If you want a rich Easter experience, book a stay at Stewarts Resort. They offer a special Easter package with festive egg hunts, barbeque, activities and more. A trip to the beach is always a great idea as it provides plenty of opportunities for nature observation, beach activities and quality time spent with your loved ones.

From here, you can explore different nearby places Hill of Tarvit and Culross Palace are both excellent options.

We’re particularly excited about the Easter Egg Trail at Kellie Castle and Garden (7—10 April). This is a great afternoon activity for all the family and a fantastic way to explore the beautiful Arts & Crafts gardens of Kellie Castle.

Whilst you’re there, why not take the opportunity to wander around the beautiful castle with fairytale stone towers? The oldest parts of the castle date back to the fourteenth century, but the interior was renovated in the nineteenth century.

If you are not so fussed about an egg hunt, we recommend checking out Scotland’s Daffodil Festival. Hosted at the Backhouse Rossie Estate near Ladybank, Cupar promises to be a genuinely uplifting experience.

You will find carpets of scented daffodils on display through the woodland walk set against the Lomond Hills. You’ll be able to see a wealth of unusual and rare plants — there are over 20,000 daffodils on display!

For the crafters amongst us, we’d recommend heading to the Falkland Estate for their Felted Spring and Easter Card Workshop. All the craft materials are supplied, and you’ll come away with quaint cards to send to family and friends. You could even make a day of it by heading to their café for lunch and refreshments. Afterwards, and also explore the picturesque town and Falkland Palace and Gardens.

Closer to home, there’s also the Easter Craft and Food Fayre in the Crail Community Hall (8—9 April).

After egg hunts and flower-filled walks, you’ll be ready for a big family meal to refuel and relax.

You will have plenty of options; roast lamb is the traditional dish this time of year, and vegan options are available instead of the classic dish.

The Doll’s House has been closed for renovation but will be open again for service by Easter. They pride themselves in hearty Sunday roasts with a wonderful selection of sides, including rich gravy, seasonal vegetables and roasted potatoes.

Forgan’s is another great shout if you’re hoping for a roast with all the trimmings. Roast beef’s on the menu for meat eaters and veggie haggis wellington for omnivores!

East Neuk is the ideal destination for an Easter Break getaway, with plenty of activities and fantastic food to enjoy.
