Whether you want to make the most of reduced green fees on the historic Links courses, enjoy welly walks along the beautiful beaches in St Andrews and the surrounding area, or simply cosy up in one of our town houses, apartments or cottages and enjoy time with friends and family, the East Neuk really is the perfect destination for a winter getaway. They say that a hot chocolate is like a hug from within, and so heading out for a warming mug of chocolatey goodness whilst on your holiday in the East Neuk is a must. Here are five of our favourite hot chocolate stops in the local area.

Cocoa Tree Café, Pittenweem

Truly decadent hot chocolate is served at the Cocoa Tree Café — each mouthful is simply heavenly! From chilli chocolate to salt and caramel, rose, peppermint, hazelnut praline and cinnamon flavours, there really is something for everyone, with vegan options available, too. You can even buy their delicious chocolate shavings to take away, allowing you to recreate the experience back at one of our properties and enjoy a cosy night in with a riveting read or a feel-good film.

Jannettas, South Street, St Andrews

Jannettas has been serving gelato to the residents and tourists of St Andrews for over 100 years. To make their hot chocolates, Belgian chocolate is melted down to create a rich and indulgent drink. Absolutely delicious. Or, if you fancy a chocolate kick but don’t mind trying something a little cooler, there’s their fantastic selection of famous gelato. They have some wonderful winter flavours including Christmas pudding, mince pie, mulled wine, and gingerbread… you know you’re tempted! Why not check out our availability in January or February and embrace a Scottish winter break by the sea?

The Cottage Kitchen, Logies Lane, St Andrews

Just like our holiday rentals, The Cottage Kitchen feels like a home from home. Hot drinks are served in handcrafted Emma Bridgewater mugs, and there is always an assortment of delicious home bakes to satiate your sweet tooth, not to mention warming mugs of hot chocolates which are lathered with freshly whipped cream and topped with marshmallows. Simply delicious.

Gorgeous, Bell Street, St Andrews

This quirky, 1940s-themed café is brimming with character and is famous for its impressive selection of freshly-made, oversized scones. The Prince of Cambridge, complete with white chocolate and raspberries and served with cream and jam, is especially noteworthy. Their hot chocolate — with cream and marshmallows, of course — is also a hit. Why not treat yourself to both, or opt to take your scone away to enjoy back at one of our cottages?

Crail Harbour Gallery, Crail

This quaint tearoom is an idyllic spot for a hot chocolate, with friendly service, exposed beams, and sea views. They even have tartan blankets to keep you cosy in the winter months! There are also prints and other pieces of artwork available to purchase — the perfect mementos of your holiday with us, Premier Stays Fife, in the East Neuk.
